Joyce Seals

Mar 21, 1941 — Jul 8, 2026

Pampa, Texas

Joyce Lee Seals, of Pampa, Texas, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at the age of 86, surrounded by family, following a stroke.

Services will be 10:00 AM Monday, July 20, 2026 at Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Rick Pearson officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery next to Jack and close to her mother, Chris. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory. Viewing will begin on Saturday, July 18, 2026.

Joyce was a strong-spirited, independent woman. Even at 86, she remained active and sharp-minded, living life on her own terms. She loved playing board games, card games, and “42” dominoes with her children and grandchildren, and she usually made sure she won. For years, Joyce could be found visiting garage sales, estate sales, and auctions in and around Pampa, always looking for a deal. Her home reflected her taste and personality and was filled with memorabilia of family and friends. She collected clocks and loved to set them all two or three minutes apart so that every hour and half-hour her home would fill with chimes, bells, songs, chirps, and squeaks as each clock announced the time in its own way.

Joyce was rich in friends. She enjoyed cooking for them on special occasions and rarely went a day without someone stopping by to visit. She loved and was devoted to Calvary Baptist Church and church family and drove herself to church every Sunday. During the last few years of her life, she had a dedicated health care worker whom she loved dearly to stay with her on weekdays, while nights and weekends remained hers alone.

Joyce was generous to a fault and shared freely with family, friends, and church alike. She will be sorely missed by her family and friends and leaves a big hole in each of our lives. She will be remembered as larger than life: a caregiver, friend, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family takes comfort in knowing she is at peace and reunited with those she loved. Her legacy lives on in the family she loved so deeply, and she leaves behind a lifetime of memories, lessons, laughter, and love.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Christene “Chris” Hudson Romines, who passed away on November 9, 2015, and by her husband, Charles “Jack” Seals, who passed away on March 3, 2018.

She is survived by her sons, Mackal Smith and wife Cynthia of St. Clair, Missouri, and Brian Smith of Dixon, Missouri; grandchildren and spouses, Elliot and Paige Smith of St. Louis, Missouri, Brandon and Hannah Smith of St. Louis, Missouri, Chelsea and Jack Castellaw of St. Louis, Missouri, and Amanda and Jason Twenter of Tipton, Missouri; great-grandchildren, Lily Smith, Wren Smith, Harrison Twenter, and Ruth Twenter; and many wonderful friends.
