Juan B. Vigil, 82, of Pampa, passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at his home.
Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, July 24, 2026 at the Romero Family Funeral Home in Pueblo, Colorado. Burial will follow at Roselawn Cemetery in Pueblo. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
Juan Vigil was born on April 12, 1944, in Springer, New Mexico, to Anselmo and Julia Trujillo Vigil. He attended school in Pueblo, Colorado, and graduated from East High School in 1963. After graduation, Juan attended Lincoln Technical School, where he earned his certification in automotive technology.
In 1974, Juan met the love of his life, Sonia Ozzello, and it was love at first sight. They moved to Pampa in 1978 and were married on October 5 of that same year. Together, they built a loving home on Sumner Street, where they shared a special passion for rescuing and adopting dogs. Pepi, Pancho, Lil Bit, Bella, Mazie, Molly, Cooper, and Mattie each held a special place in their hearts and brought them years of love, laughter, and companionship.
Juan was a hardworking man who believed in doing whatever it took to provide for his family. He dedicated more than 25 years of loyal service to Walmart, where he worked in a variety of roles and was known for his strong work ethic and dependability.
A true jack-of-all-trades, Juan had an incredible ability to fix almost anything. He enjoyed working on cars, woodworking, collecting rocks, scrapping metal, and even crocheting. He loved watching classic westerns, especially The Rifleman, and never missed Saturday mornings filled with Looney Tunes.
Above all else, Juan treasured time with his family. Whether he was camping, fishing, tinkering on a car, or simply sharing stories around the table, he was happiest surrounded by the people he loved. Blessed with a wonderful sense of humor, Juan was a gifted storyteller whose larger-than-life tales and playful jokes kept family and friends laughing for hours. He lived a simple, honest life, leaving behind countless memories and a legacy of hard work, love, and laughter that will never be forgotten.
Juan was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 44 years, Sonia Medori Vigil; his parents, Anselmo and Julia Vigil; his sisters, Teresa Moreno, Leonor Sisneros and her husband Nick, Rae Vigil, and Doris Arzate; and his nephews, Cuco, Anthony, Alfonso "Fonz," and Luciano.
He is survived by his brother, Gilbert (Claudine) Vigil of Pueblo, Colorado; his sister/niece, Antoinette, of Denver, Colorado; brother-in-law, Fransico Arzate; his faithful dog, Mazie; numerous nieces and nephews; many great-nieces and great-nephews; and a host of extended family and dear friends who will miss him deeply.
