Kathleen Greene, 81, of Pampa, passed away on January 7, 2022 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Services will be 2:00 PM Monday, January 17, 2022 at Central Baptist Church with Rev. Norman Rushing, pastor, and Cory Young, of Golden Spur Ministries, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
Kathleen was born November 9, 1940 in Pampa to Hollis and Juanita Dodds. She graduated from Pampa High School in 1959. On March 6, 1959, she married the love of her life, Jim Greene. They celebrated 47 years of marriage before he passed away on September 2, 2004. Kathleen loved to be by Jim ‘s side in everything they did, from helping him on the farm to helping to tend to their cattle. She was truly a farmer’s wife, she enjoyed driving the tractor, combine, and grain trucks alongside the love of her life. Kathleen was a lifelong member of Central Baptist Church, member of the Wayside Club (Little Red School House), member of Pampa Fine Arts, and volunteered with Meals on Wheels. On Tuesdays, she enjoyed her time painting at the Pampa Senior Citizens Center. She had a desire to volunteer and give back and has been a longtime supporter of the Top O’ Texas Livestock Show. Kathleen was instrumental in bringing rodeo bible camps to Texas for the area rodeo youth. Jim and Kathleen began Texas Rodeo Bible Camp along with numerous friends and family. This event continued for almost 20 years. Kathleen, along with the Texas Rodeo Bible Camp volunteers, planted many seeds along with many decisions to follow Christ. Kathleen loved rodeos, especially the National Finals Rodeo. She had made every performance of NFR in Las Vegas since 1986, until she fell ill before the last two performance this year. Her family, was her life, she traveled all over to make every event or game that her kids and grandchildren were involved in. She was known as “Grandma”, “Beebo”, and GG to them and she loved them dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her mother and father-in-law, Bill and Ruth Greene.
Survivors include her daughters, Jamie Greene of Pampa and Amie Reid and husband Ben of Amarillo; a son, Thad Greene and Melanie Marlow of Powell Butte, Oregon; 8 grandchildren, Cecilia Evans husband Clint, Casey Coleman, Cody Lee and wife Sarah, Keeley Wichert and husband Jacob, Corben Reid and wife Lacey, Bobby Ka Greene, Sally Greene, and Annie Greene; 6 great grandchildren, Camdyn Evans, Collins Evans, Lucas Wichert, River Lee, Jett Schumacher, and Scout Tucker; sister, Sue Wilson and husband David of Las Vegas, Nevada; and numerous nieces and nephews.
