Private family services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at First United Methodist Church in Miami with Rev. Lewis Holland, pastor of First Christian Church of Miami, officiating. Burial will follow in Miami Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Due to Covid, the service will be livestreamed through the funeral home website and on First Christian Church of Miami Facebook page.

Kay was born August 29, 1946 in Liberty, Texas to Kathryn Adelia LaMaster and Samuel Jacob Judice. She graduated from Perryton High School and attended University of Hawaii and Transylvania University in Louisville, Kentucky. Kay transferred to West Texas State University where she earned her degree in education. She started her teaching career in Miami, teaching third grade in 1968 and continued teaching various grades for 30 years in Miami Elementary School, before retiring in 2003. Kay married Alan “Butch” Thompson on July 18, 1970. She was a longtime member of First Christian Church in Miami, where she currently served on the board of directors. She also was currently serving on the Miami Independent School District Board and was a past board member and volunteer of Tralee Crisis Center in Pampa. Kay loved her community and was always ready to help anyone, in any way. She had a kind and giving heart, and she had a way of making everyone feel welcome and loved. Kay had a personality that could light up a room and she lived life to the fullest. She had a gift of hospitality, party planning, and bringing people together. Kay enjoyed her monthly bridge club and playing games of any kind with her grandchildren. Of all the things she loved, being “Nina” to her 5 grandchildren gave her the most joy.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, Butch of the home; daughter, Tandy Diamond and husband Jason of Dallas; son, Brock Thompson and wife Berkley of Amarillo; brother, Sammy Judice and wife Sandy of Perryton; 5 grandchildren, Ty Thompson, Trent Thompson, Kathryn “Kate” Diamond, Olivia Diamond, and Max Diamond; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
