Kathy Renee Smith, 63, of Miami, passed away on August 30, 2023 in Pampa with her family by her side.

 

Memorial graveside services will be at 2:00 PM at Roberts Cemetery on Saturday, September 9, 2023 with Monty Wheeler, officiating. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

 

Kathy was born January 3, 1960 in Pampa to Gary Heiskell and Gerry Robins Heiskell. She attended school in Pampa, Woodward, Oklahoma, Iran, and Miami. Kathy obtained her GED after she left school and earned her EMT license. She worked as an EMT in Miami, Pampa, and Amarillo, going wherever she was needed. Kathy was a proud member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma.

 

Kathy married Derrel Smith on July 20, 1997 in Miami. Together they made their home in Miami. Kathy enjoyed traveling with Derrel and going to casinos. She also enjoyed being involved in her community as a dispatcher for the sheriff’s department and working at the county courthouse. Kathy loved nothing more than spending time with her family whether it was during the holidays, traveling, or just hanging out on the patio getting bitten by mosquitos.

 

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Gary and Gerry Heiskell; and one son, Jordan Smith.

 

She is survived by her husband, Derrel Smith of Miami; four children, Dari Sharpton and husband William of Pampa, Jeremy Smith of San Marcos, Jonathan Smith of Miami, and Jessie Wheeler and husband Kyle of Miami; one brother, Johnny Heiskell and wife Lisa of Tuttle, Oklahoma; two sisters, Robin Ash and husband Craig of Blanchard, Oklahoma and Tanya Heiskell of Austin; 7 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

 

Memorials may be made to the Miami Volunteer EMS, 214 N Main St, Miami, Texas, 79059.
