Kay Howell Crouch, 87, of Pampa, passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2023 in Pampa.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM on Tuesday, December 19, 2023.
Kay was born on May 5, 1936 in Spearman to Lester and Darlene McLeod Howell. She attended school in Spearman and graduated from Spearman High School in 1954. After graduating, Kay pursued higher education and obtained her bachelor's degree. She later went on to earn her master’s degree from West Texas University. Kay taught in Andrews for one year before going to work for the Girl Scouts of the USA. While working for the Girl Scouts, Kay met James Crouch and the two were married on June 2, 1960 in Spearman. They made their home in Pampa and Kay began working for Pampa ISD in 1967. She later retired from Pampa ISD in 2000 but continued to teach private art lessons until 2018 when she was no longer able to. During her time teaching, Kay also taught the gifted and talented program at Pampa ISD and was extremely proud of it.
Kay enjoyed all forms of art, especially painting and pottery. However, she enjoyed nothing more than teaching art. She was a long-time member of the First Baptist and for several years taught the fifth grade Sunday school class.
Kay was also a member of the National Education Association, the Texas State Teacher’s Association, Kappa Kappa Iota, the Pampa Art Club, the Pampa Retired Teachers, and the Bridge Club. She was a kind-hearted and giving woman that will be deeply missed by all that knew her.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents; Lester and Darlene Howell; her husband, James Crouch; one sister, Pat Dear; one brother, Bobby Jack Howell; two brothers-in-law, Ed Dear and Joe Johnson; and one sister-in-law, Nelda Johnson.
She is survived by her three children, Candy Thompson of Pampa, Kirt Crouch of St. Louis, Missouri, and Marsha Matthews and husband Gary of Seminole; five grandchildren, Ryan Thompson, Lindsey Thompson, Colton Crouch, Cody Matthews, and Ben Matthews; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, Illinois, 60601.
