Kenny “Mape” Maple, 62, of Pampa, passed away on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, in Pampa.
Services will be at 2:00 PM Friday, September 22, 2023, in the Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Brother Paul Nachtigall, retired Baptist minister, officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
Mape was born on July 14, 1961, in Pampa to Jim and Martha Maple. He attended Pampa High School and graduated in 1979. After high school, Kenny worked for Mundy at Celanese for many years, and he most recently worked at Cabot for 13 years. Kenny married his best friend and love of his life, Tammye, on June 6, 1998.
Mape was a kid at heart, never took things too seriously, and loved to laugh and pick fun at everyone, especially Dallas Cowboys fans. More people have had a big foot sighting than have seen Mape wearing long pants. He enjoyed a whiskey drink while watching football – specifically Notre Dame and the New York “Football Giants”, and late-night NASCAR races, especially if a Ford won. Mape enjoyed playing golf, grilling, and loved spending time with his grandchildren, who lovingly referred to him as “Papa K”.
Kenny was a friend to many and was always there when you needed him. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Mape was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Tammye Maple of the home; a son, Kelly Lane and wife April of Elk City, Oklahoma; daughters, Kendra Lane, and Kara Hacker and husband Tyler of Weatherford, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Sawyer, Brewer, Evan, Addison, Chester, and Reese; sister, Connie Rippetoe and husband Roy; brother-in-law, Wade Jackson and wife Nancy; uncle, Don Maple; and numerous cousins and other extended family members.
