Kevin Lynn “Opa” Turk, 65, of Pampa, passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2026 at his home.
Memorial services will be held at 2:30 PM on Sunday, November 8, 2026, at the Mary Ellen and Harvester Church of Christ with Zac Green, pastor at Mary Ellen Harvester Church of Christ, officiating. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
Kevin was born on February 21, 1961, in West Covina, California to Robert Turk and Juanda Louise Brown Turk. He graduated from Salome High School in Salome, Arizona in 1979. After graduating, Kevin enlisted in the United States Army where he served his country for nine years. He spent most of his time in the military stationed in Texas and Germany. Kevin met the love of his life, Nina Garrison, while she was waiting for her mom to finish her shift at a cafe. He was traveling through the area and was immediately interested in Nina, so he asked her on a date. They were married just six months later on June 10, 1986.
After being discharged from the military Kevin and Nina moved to Texas. In 1994, Kevin began his career as a corrections officer with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. He worked at the Jordan Unit for many years until his retirement. Kevin was incredibly intelligent and had a passion for learning new things. When his daughter went to college he decided he wanted to as well and earned his associate’s degree. Kevin also recently started relearning how to speak German and was mastering it very quickly. He had a creative mind and loved telling stories. He also enjoyed reading, especially Stephen King and James Patterson. Kevin was also a huge fan of horror movies and Star Trek. He had a kind heart and a soft spot for animals, mostly dogs and regularly donated to the ASPCA.
He was a loving husband and a supportive father. He encouraged his girls to be loud and strong even when they disagreed with him. Kevin was extremely proud to be an Opa. He loved nothing more than spending time with granddaughters and making memories. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends.
Kevin was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Juanda Brown Turk; and three brothers, Robert Dick, Brian Dick, and Leory Dick.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Nina Turk, of the home; two daughters, Kelly Louise Turk and Sabrina Paige Turk both of Pampa; two granddaughters, Lilith Kay Turk and Freya Rose Turk; five siblings; Lori Wellman and husband Sam, Leanne Jordan, Cheryl Ross and husband Richard, Michael Dick and wife Jackie, and Charles Dick; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be sent to the Mary Ellen & Harvester Church of Christ, PO Box 2438, Pampa, Texas, 79066.
