He was born on January 01, 1924 in Wichita Falls, TX to Ernest and Erma Richardson. Lonnie always delighted in telling how he was a New Years baby. He graduated from Wichita Falls High School and later earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering from Hardin Simmons University. He married Louise Hawkins of Harlingen, Tx on June 27, 1949. They began his career and their life together in Kingsville, Tx where he worked for the Celanese Bishop Plant and they welcomed their first child, Cheryl. Lonnie and family relocated to Pampa, Tx upon a transfer to the Celanese plant in that city and it was here where they welcomed their three other children, Steven, Lynn, and Susan. It was at the Pampa plant that the inquisitive thinker was awarded a U.S. patent that helped increase production and save money for the company.

Lonnie and Louise were very involved in the First Baptist Church Pampa where they sang in the choir and were directors of the young married couples Sunday school class. He served as a deacon and they both made many missionary trips together to Mexico, Russia, and Brazil .

He also served on the Pampa ISD board believing that an excellent education was the key to success and that all children should have that opportunity.

He enjoyed playing golf, watching sports, and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. He loved traveling with family and friends and made many trips to the mountains for fly fishing, sightseeing, hiking, and relaxation. Besides mission work, Lonnie and Louise made other trips abroad along with covering both coasts of America and points in between until her passing in May of 2000. Later, he was fortunate to find another companion in his life and travels when he married Mary Bryant until her passing November 2018.
