Lynn was born September 27, 1943 in Clayton, New Mexico to Joe and Kathryn Murphree. She graduated from Pampa High School in 1962. On October 13, 1961, she married her sweetheart, Larry Ray. They have celebrated over 64 years of marriage. After Lynn graduated from high school, she worked for Bob Gordon as a legal secretary for 25 years before she retired. Lynn started her own business as Lynn Ray Tax Service to continue to help people. She operated the business until 2000. Later on, they owned and operated the Hughey House Bed and Breakfast for about 5 years.

Lynn was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Pampa. Her and Larry led the singles Sunday School class for many years. They were also involved in the singles puppet ministry as well. Lynn had a servant’s heart and loved to serve and help others and always did it with a smile. She had the ability to be present and tend to the needs of the people she was with, all while still continuing what she was doing. She would take the time to notice the small things others overlooked. Lynn was a strong woman who faced challenges in her life, but she always handled them with grace and never complained.

Lynn had many hobbies which include playing cards with the ladies and doing crafts with her cousin “sister” Gloria Stephens. They spent many hours making all kinds of arts and crafts. Lynn was also a very talented horsewoman during the years they had horses. Her family meant everything to her, and she was deeply proud of each one of them. She especially loved her role as “NeeNee,” embracing it with joy, warmth, and a love that made each grandchild feel truly special.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, James A. Murphree.

Survivors include her husband Larry D. Ray of the home; son, Randy Ray and wife Anita of Canyon; daughter, Kristi Hutto and husband Tim of Hutchinson, Kansas; special niece, Johnnie Jones of Cloud Croft, New Mexico; grandchildren, Dr. Rachel Styer and husband Justin of Starbase, Texas, Luke Ray of Bristol, Connecticut, Keaton Hutto and wife Katie of Fort Worth, and Kebbi Hutto and husband Wally Wolanin of Hutchison, Kansas; great grandchildren, Ray, Susan, Neil, Roger, Hagen, Adeline, Gibson, Amara, and Adler.
