Majuanta was a leap-year baby born on February 29, 1964, to Mary Denman and Wayne Slater. She grew up and finished school in Pampa. Majuanta was one of the original members of the Pampa Sheltered Workshop where she made life-long friends with the members and staff. Majuanta lived most of her life in Pampa, but four years ago she moved to Amarillo where she continued making great friends with everyone she met.
Majuanta loved music, especially her favorites like George Strait and Elvis Presley. She could always be found with her favorite drink, a cold Diet Coke with no ice!! To know Majuanta was to love her. She was always a joyful person to be around and had a way of teaching people how to know, love, and accept others that are different. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Roy Denman; and her paternal and maternal grandparents.
Majuanta is survived by her mother and her hero, Mary Denman of Amarillo; father, Wayne Slater and wife Barbara of Pampa; three sisters, Rhonda Denman and husband Cody Mixon of Amarillo, Jodie Weatherly and husband Lex of Granbury, and Ginger Hazle and husband John of Boys Ranch; stepsister, DiDi Hansen; stepbrother, Danny Hansen; nephews and nieces, Michael, Madison, Landon, Jonathon, and Jadon; several great nieces and nephews; and other extended family.
The family would like to extend gratitude to special friend and caretaker, Yvonne Mercer and all the staff and friends at Community Options for helping to make Majuanta’s life special.
