Marlin Hickman, 89, of Pampa, passed away on Saturday, May 7, 2022 in Pampa.
Services will be at 2:00 PM on Friday, May 13, 2022 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints with Bishop Drew Jennings, Bishop of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Pampa ward, officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM on Thursday at the funeral home.
Marlin was born on May 7, 1933 in Montgomery, Louisiana to Virgil and Ophelia Paige Hickman. He attended school in Montgomery before enlisting in the United States Army on November 13, 1948. Marlin was discharged from the Army on July 26, 1952. He then enlisted in the Marine Corps on December 11, 1952 and was discharged on December 10, 1955. After his time in the military Marlin began his career in the oilfield by driving truck for Mobil. He later worked for McCullough Gas and Oil until his retirement after 25 years with the company. Marlin lived in Oklahoma and Canadian before making his home in Pampa in 1980.
He married Marie Lowe on October 6, 1981 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Marlin was a member of Masonic Lodge #855 in Canadian. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a two-time past master. Marlin was a long-time member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
He enjoyed traveling and playing baseball with his son, Tyson. Marlin also enjoyed his longtime hobby of amateur radio operator. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Virgil Hickman, Jr., Nolan Hickman, Howard Hickman, and Travis Hickman; and two sisters, Dauphine Cooley and Peggy Hernandez.
Marlin is survived by his wife of 40 years, Marie Hickman; six children, Tyson Hickman and wife Alicia, Belinda Whitley, Kirk Hickman and wife Kim, Grant Hickman, Ruth Ann Rollins and Dewayne Hickman; one brother, Charles Cheek; grandchildren, Andru Hosler, Rory Hickman, and several other grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and many close friends.
