Mary Alice Baysinger Gruben

Mary Alice Baysinger Gruben, 93, of Pampa, passed away Wednesday, January 1, 2020, in Pampa.

 

Services will be at 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 11, 2020 at the Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Commissioned Pastor Nancy Ruff and Reverend Dr. Ken McIntosh, officiating. A private family inurnment will follow. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.

 

Mary was born on March 14, 1926 in Salisbury, MD to Russell and Elizabeth Davis Baysinger. She married Carl F. Hills on April 1, 1946. They moved in Pampa in 1952 and stayed here until 1962. They spent the next 10 years in Louisiana and Oklahoma. After that they traveled for 15 years, living all over while Carl worked in the oil well drilling business. They settled back in Pampa in 1986. Carl preceded in her death on March 26, 1991. She later married Henry Gruben on November 6, 1992 in Pampa. He preceded her in death on April 13, 2010. She was member of the First Presbyterian Church in Pampa, as well as the Pampa Garden Club and the Pampa Senior Citizens. She enjoyed traveling, swing dancing, painting in all forms, quilting, and reading. She also enjoyed a competitive game of cards with her friends at the Senior Citizens Center. At Meredith Place in recent months she learned to enjoy Bingo and Noodle Ball also playing to win.

 

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Carl Hills; her second husband, Henry Gruben; her daughter, Cindy Melancon; son-in-law, Donald Melancon; brother Robert Baysinger; granddaughter, Angela Melancon; stepson, Karl Gruben; 2 nieces; and 1 nephew.

 

She is survived by her; sister, Alda Elliott and husband Nelson of Quantico, MD; stepson, David Gruben of Boerne, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 525 N. Gray Street, Pampa, TX, 79065 or the Pampa Animal Welfare Society, 811 S. Hobart St, Pampa, TX 79065.
