Mary Lu Bonsal, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, peacefully passed away on February 16, 2024, in Cedar Park, Texas, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.

A celebration of Mary's life will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, February 21, 2024, where friends and family will gather to honor her memory and share stories of her remarkable life, at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel in Pampa with Rev. Byron Williamson, pastor of First Baptist Church of Pampa, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Pampa. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.  

Mary was born on October 28, 1935, in Pampa, Texas, to Augustine "Gus" and Patsy Greene. Mary was a member of Crestview Baptist Church in Georgetown, Texas and had previously been an active member of First Baptist Church in Round Rock, Texas. Her faith was an integral part of her life, guiding her actions and providing her with strength and comfort. 

Mary was known for her sense of humor, unwavering love for her family and her passion for creating lasting memories. She delighted in taking her grandchildren on camping adventures and cherished every moment spent with them. Her love for the mountains, particularly in Wyoming, reflected her adventurous spirit and appreciation for the beauty of nature.

An avid University of Texas fan, Mary found great joy in attending football, basketball, and volleyball games, cheering on her beloved Longhorns with enthusiasm. Her dedication to UT was unwavering, and she shared her passion for sports with those she loved.

Professionally, Mary excelled as an accountant, demonstrating diligence and precision in her work. Her commitment to excellence was evident in everything she pursued.

Following her retirement, Mary volunteered her time at the Round Rock Area Serving Center, where she selflessly worked to support those in need. Her compassionate spirit and willingness to give back to others exemplified her character and left a lasting impact on those around her.

Mary Lu Bonsal will be remembered fondly for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering faith. She touched the lives of all who knew her and leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to inspire for generations to come.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Susan, her parents, Augustine "Gus" and Patsy Greene, and her sister, Sue Jones.

Mary is survived by her three adoring daughters, LuDonne Hartzell and husband Bob of Georgetown, Dora Tidwell and husband Jim of Lubbock, and Grace Bonsal of League City. She was also a loving sister to Lem Greene and wife Shirley of White Deer. Mary's memory will be cherished by her seven grandchildren: Chelsey Hershey and husband Matt of Dripping Springs, Christen Horner and husband John of Llano, Tucker Ross and wife Laurie of Idalou, Taylor Ross and wife Taylor Anne of Floydada, Joshua Smith and wife Chanel of League City, Hunter Henderson of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Nathaniel Henderson of League City; nine great-grandchildren: Finnley Hershey, Jacob Horner, Brennan Horner, Loren Horner, Aaryn Jae Ross, Sloan Ross, Parker Ross, Levi Campbell, and Kyah Smith; one niece, Patricia Jones of Dallas, and two nephews, Shaun Greene and wife Kristen of Rockport and Mark Greene and wife Julie of Kyle.
