Mary Lynn Flowers, 88, died Friday, March 6, 2026, at home in Amarillo with family at her side.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, March 20, 2026, at the Roberts County Cemetery with Rev. Tom Stribling, retired Methodist minister, officiating. Burial and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory of Pampa.
Mary will be available for viewing from 2:00 – 8:00 PM on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, and 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM, Thursday, March 19, 2026. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:00 PM, on Thursday at the funeral home.
Mary Lynn was born on October 6, 1937, in Miami, Texas, to Alton Alford and Minty Glynus (Trew) Gill. She graduated from Miami High School in 1956, but not before marrying Eldon Lawson Flowers on April 10, 1955, at the First Baptist Church. They lived on the Flowers Ranch northwest of Miami, and two children, Donna Kim and Mitchell Kirk, soon arrived. After the death of Eldon in 1982, Mary Lynn remained on the ranch to operate it with her children.
Throughout life she acquired, and in most cases, mastered, a number of hobbies. From childhood on, she was an avid reader. Having completed coursework at Amarillo College, she spent several years working as a photographer. In 1987, her work was featured in the second edition of the Roberts County History Book. She cared for many animals and enjoyed traveling with family and friends.
Mary Lynn grew beautiful gardens, prepared delicious meals, hosted many gatherings, and created exquisite quilts. She enjoyed playing and watching a number of sports, including basketball, bowling, and golf. She moved to Amarillo in 1998, where she embarked on an active retirement, which included membership and extensive Bible study at Hillside Christian Church and countless bridge games with her friends at the Amarillo Senior Citizens Association.
Mary Lynn was preceded in death by Eldon; her parents; one sister, Eda Beth Keaton; and two brothers, Charles Gill and Jim Gill.
Survivors include her daughter, Kim Flowers of Amarillo; son, Kirk Flowers of Canadian; granddaughter, Autumn Lynn Flowers of Amarillo; grandson, Heath Eldon Flowers and wife Sarah of Arlington, Virginia; two great-grandsons, Andrew and Ari Flowers; three sisters, Jo Goen of Floydada, Kay Mayo of New Braunfels, and Jackie Gill of Cold Spring, New York; and one brother, Duane Gill of Aurora, Colorado.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Roberts County Museum, P.O. Box 306, Miami, Texas 79059 or the 55+ Club of Amarillo, P.O. Box 30424, Amarillo, TX 79120.
The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to the staff members of High Plains Senior Care Hospice and Abide Senior Care for their gracious assistance.
