Mary Lee Larkin, 76, of Amarillo, passed away on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 in Amarillo.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM on Monday, January 5, 2026 at the Memory Gardens Mausoleum. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
Mary was born on December 9, 1949 in Pampa to William Boykin and Hazel Brown Boykin. She attended Pampa High School and Frank Phillips College. Mary was married to the love of her life, Lloyd Larkin, on August 26, 1967 in Pampa. They were later blessed with two children, LaGayla and William.
Mary and her family moved several times during Lloyd’s career in the United States Army. She was a proud military spouse for over 38 years. Mary made every house they lived in a loving home. She relentlessly supported Lloyd’s career and was actively involved in the Family Readiness Group, helping other families adjust to military life. Mary was a homemaker for several years before working at Sears in Plainview and later at the Hawkins Radio Lab in Pampa.
Mary enjoyed reading and gardening. She loved all animals and played a big part raising the livestock her children would show. Mary had two requests when they were looking for a home, she wanted land and she wanted animals. Lloyd was happy to give her both. Mary was a member of Field Street Baptist Church of Cleburne and when her health made it difficult to attend in person, she would watch the services of First Baptist Church of Amarillo on Channel 10.
Mary loved her family dearly and enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved family get-togethers and all the laughter they would bring. Mary spent her final Christmas surrounded by love and, of course, laughter. She had a generous spirit and every year for Christmas she asked that instead of gifts that Lloyd would donate to the High Plains Food Bank and Amarillo Habitat for Humanity. Mary’s vibrant personality and warm heart will be missed dearly by family. She will be remembered as a faithful servant of God, a devoted wife, a loving mother, and the best grandmother there ever was.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, William and Hazel Boykin; her maternal and paternal grandparents; and her father and mother-in-law, Nelson and Nellie Larkin.
She is survived by her husband, Lloyd Larkin of the home; two children, LaGayla Wheat of Pampa and William Larkin and Maria Lopez of Amarillo; one brother, Gene Yeary and wife Pam of Cupertino, California; four grandchildren, LaTeasa Williams and husband Ray of McLean, Mayce Clark and husband Trey of Pampa, and Camdyn Larkin and James Sterling Larkin both of Amarillo; and seven great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to the Amarillo Habitat for Humanity, PO Box 775, Amarillo, Texas, 79105 or to the High Plains Food Bank, PO Box 31803, Amarillo, Texas, 79120.
