Obituary

Mary Ann Nace, 80, of Shamrock and formerly of Pampa, passed away on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at her home in Shamrock.

Memorial Services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, March 7, 2026, at the Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel, with Rev. Jarrod Neal, pastor of First Methodist Church of Pampa, officiating. Cremation and Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

Mary was born on September 16, 1945, in Pampa to R.A. and Georgia Mack. She graduated from Pampa High School in 1963 and spent some time working at Furr’s Cafeteria thereafter. Mary would eventually meet and marry Otis Nace on June 24, 1983. The two of them owned and operated the Pampa branch of the New York Life Insurance Company for over a decade. Mary was a long-time member of the First Methodist Church of Pampa, as well as the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Mary had two things in her life that she held above all else, her faith, and her family. She took her role as “gum-gum” to her grandkids and great-grandkids very seriously. She loved spending time with her family and could be extremely protective of them if needed. Mary was an avid reader and especially loved Agatha Christie novels. She was also a huge fan of Elvis Presley and even made a trip to Memphis just to go to Graceland. She could also be described as an animal lover, although cats were always her favorite.

Mary will be remembered for her caring nature, her collection of butterfly themed trinkets, and her fiercely loyal personality.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, R.A. Mack and Georgia Lois O’Dell; her husband, Otis Nace; and a sister, Jimmie Kay “Dudamouse” Williams.

She is survived by her son, David Irvin and wife Mary; a daughter, Melanie Clancy and husband Chad; five grandchildren, James Irvin, Nicholas Clancy, Ryan Clancy and wife Chelsea, Samantha Clancy, and Jesci Clancy; seven great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Tommy Williams; as well as many more nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lovett Memorial Library, 111 N Houston St, Pampa, Texas, 79065 or the Pampa Animal Welfare Society, PO Box 2095, Pampa, Texas, 79065.
