Mary was born on December 7, 1934, in Lubbock to Grady and Clarice Mae Scarbrough. She grew up and later graduated high school in Idalou. While in high school, she met the love of her life, Billy Eugene Roye and the high school sweethearts later married in 1955 in Muleshoe. Shortly after their marriage, they moved to Rhode Island when Bill was in the U.S. Navy. After his service, they moved back to Texas. Mary and Bill lived in the Muleshoe, Kress, and Plainview area before they moved to Pampa in 1968. Bill would precede her in death in 1997.

Mary worked in the banking industry for several years, working as a teller and customer service at First National Bank and Citizens Bank & Trust. She later retired after 20 years of service. In her spare time, Mary enjoyed gardening and sewing. Mary was a long-time volunteer for the Good Samaritan Christian Service. But what brought her the most enjoyment was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Seeing all her grandchildren grow, get married, and start their families made her very proud. Mary was a devout Christian woman and was a member of Redeemer Church. Mary will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Paul Roye; son-in-law, Jimmy Jennings; her brother and her sister-in-law, Bueford and Nelta Scarbrough; and a stepmother, Marie Scarbrough.
