Maxine Hawkins

Maxine Hawkins, 93, of Pampa, passed away peacefully early Thursday morning, May 27, 2021 at Touchmark Memory Care, Edmond, Oklahoma.

Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, May 29, 2021 at Fairview Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Jerry Lane of Community Crossroads Church of White Deer, officiating. Burial and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.

Maxine will be available for viewing from 2:00 PM - 8 PM on Friday and 8:00 AM-12:30 PM on Saturday at the funeral home.

Maxine was born in Pampa on April 21, 1928. She attended Pampa public schools and graduated in 1946. She married Ronald D. (Red) Hawkins on February 7, 1947 and they had two sons, Michael Dee Hawkins and Thomas Clay Hawkins.

Maxine was employed by Panhandle Equipment Company, Milliron Engineering, and Pam-Tex as a bookkeeper and cost accountant. She enjoyed bowling, painting, bridge, and activities with family and friends. She organized and planned many class reunions and trips. She was a member of the Pampa Art Club. She enjoyed hosting art classes in her upstairs apartment on Evergreen street. She belonged to many bridge clubs over the years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wesley and Sadie Lane of Pampa; a brother, Edwin Doyle Lane of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; two sisters, Norma Lee Odom of Pampa and Sue Thompson of Kingston, Oklahoma; her husband, Ronald D. (Red) Hawkins of Pampa; and by a son, Michael Dee Hawkins of Amarillo, Texas.

She is survived by her son, Thomas Clay Hawkins and wife Mary of Edmond, Oklahoma; and by her granddaughter, Shelley Hawkins also of Edmond.
