Melissa was born on March 24, 1949, in Amarillo, to Earnest and Bonnie Frisbie. She grew up in Amarillo and graduated from Amarillo High School. Melissa and Ronnie purchased a hardware store called Home Builder Supply and opened an antique shop called New Creations that was attached. In addition to these entrepreneurial ventures, Melissa sold all kinds of baked goods for supplemental income. She also worked for Clements Flower Shop and as a substitute teacher for many years.
Melissa was a member of the First Baptist Church for many years and was later a member of the First Christian Church, where she taught youth Sunday School. She always held her faith as the most important thing in her life, she found immense joy in using her artistic talent to create colorful scripture pages for Meals on Wheels and prison ministry inmates. She was an extremely artistic and creative woman and loved to create all sorts of arts and crafts. She spent much of her time listening to gospel music, especially the Gaither Vocal Band. Melissa also enjoyed watching old musicals, playing Scrabble, and working on her Garden.
Melissa was preceded in death by her parents, Earnest Ellis Frisbie and Bonnie Wayne Price; her husband, Ronald Gene Parker; and a daughter, Michaelyn Rose Parker.
Melissa is survived by two daughters, China Wells and husband Reed of Wichita, Kansas, and Kazia Ferguson and husband Brooks of Brock; two granddaughters, Ally and Shelby Ferguson; a sister, Saundra Curry; and a niece, Carrie Curry, both of Clovis, New Mexico; as well as many special friends and neighbors who were considered family to Melissa.
