Mike Shannon, 74, of Pampa, passed away on November 4, 2025 in Dallas with his family by side.
A Celebration of Life Service will be 2:00 PM, Monday, November 10, 2025, at Briarwood Church with retired minister and brother-in-law, Lonny Robbins and Pastor Jamisen Hancock, pastor of Briarwood Church, officiating. Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
Mike will be available for viewing from 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM on Saturday and 1:00 – 8:00 PM on Sunday at the funeral home.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 4:00 – 6:00 PM at the Connection Center at Briarwood Church 1800 W. Harvester St., Pampa, TX 79065.
Michael Earl Shannon was born on January 6, 1951, in Winters, Texas to Earl and Lois Shannon. He died November 4, 2025, at UT Southwestern Hospital in Dallas, TX. He grew up in Abilene, Texas where he graduated from Cooper High School in 1969. Mike earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Texas Tech University in 1974. He later earned his Professional Engineering license.
Mike married Beth Gibson on August 9, 1980, in Pampa. They raised three children: Dawn, Megan, and Joel. He retired from Pantex in 2016 but returned twice as a subcontract employee. His final employment ended in 2022.
Mike’s passion for motorcycles blossomed into teaching others how to ride. He used that as an opportunity to share the love of Christ. Beth nicknamed it “Mike’s Motorcycle Ministry.” Mike was a man of faith and generosity. At the time of his death, he was on the board of directors of two local faith-based non-profit organizations*.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents Earl and Lois Shannon, his sister Marilyn Hanke, and his in-laws, Lyle and Arlene Gibson.
He is survived by his wife Beth, daughter, Dawn Boyd and husband Shawn, daughter, Megan Belcher and husband Chris, and son, Joel Shannon; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Lonny and Gloria Robbins; nephew, Chris Hanke and wife Amaris, niece, Amy May and husband Ian, nephew, Nick Robbins and wife Kelsi; grandchildren, Evan, Jase, Kate, and Elle Boyd, Claire and Avery Belcher; and great-granddaughter, Oakley Boyd.
