Monte was born on June 29, 1937, in Sayre, Oklahoma, to Henry and Edith Lowrance, who preceded him in death. He married the love of his life, Darla Lowrance, on August 16, 1963, in Erick, Oklahoma. They shared over 60 years of marriage until her passing on January 27, 2024.
Monte dedicated his life to education and service. He began his career as a teacher in Oklahoma, teaching at multiple schools before teaching at Altus, Oklahoma, where he later served as principal. He continued teaching in Copperas Cove, Texas, leaving a lasting impact on countless students before retiring in 2000. Education was more than a profession to Monte, it was a calling, and he took great pride in shaping young lives with patience, discipline, and care.
In addition to his work in education, Monte was a master carpenter, known for his skill, craftsmanship, and willingness to help others. He took great satisfaction in working with his hands and creating things that would last, often using his talents to serve family, friends, and his church.
A man of deep and abiding faith, Monte loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and lived his life in quiet service to Him. He faithfully served as a Deacon at Hobart Baptist Church in Pampa, where he was respected for his integrity, humility, and servant’s heart.
He is survived by his children, Sandra Dean and husband Steve, and Sharon Thornton; grandchildren, Mike Torres and wife Kristina, Noah Torres, Beca Pedrosa and husband Thomas, Chelsea Vallani and husband Luigi, and Ethan Dean and wife Jadyn; along with numerous great-grandchildren who were a constant source of joy.
Monte will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, skilled craftsman, faithful servant of God, and an educator whose influence reached far beyond the classroom. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched and the family he loved deeply.
