Norma Ely Schale Hensley, 98, of Pampa, passed away on Thursday, October 9, 2025 at her home.
Services will be at 2:00 PM on Monday, October 13, 2025 at the Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Brother Paul Nachtigall, retired pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 to 4:00 PM on Sunday, October 12, 2025.
Norma Jean Hensley was born on November 12, 1926 in Cushing, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Miles Monroe Ely and Lola B. Robison Ely. She was saved and baptized at the age of eight and became a member of the First Christian Church of Garber, Oklahoma. She graduated from high school in Fairview, Oklahoma in 1944 and Pampa Business College. She married Albert J. Schale, Jr. in 1944 in Alameda, California. He was in the Navy and went missing in action in 1945. His plane was discovered in 1948 in Japan. He is buried in Arlington Cemetery.
Norma worked as a secretary for Lynn Boyd Lumber Company in Pampa from 1950 until 1963. She was employed by Cabot Oil and Gas Corporation from 1963 until 1987, as the accounting supervisor and coordinating administrator of property taxes, retiring in 1987.
She married Addie L. Hensley in 1971 in Amarillo. She became a member of Highland Baptist Church in 1991, serving for a number of years as Sunday school secretary, church clerk, a member of the bereavement committee and the church council, as a member of the adult Sunday school class, and Highland Senior’s Club.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Addie Hensley; grandson, Darby Schale; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Annette Ely; stepdaughter, Linda Hensley; stepson, Ronald Hensley; and a step-granddaughter, Chelce Hensley.
She is survived by her son, Mike Schale and wife Kadda of Pampa; grandson, Landon Schale and wife Leona of Prosper; great-grandson, Miles Schale; great-granddaughter, Maeve Schale; niece, Karen Linder and husband Dean; nephew, Chris Ely; stepchildren, Randy Hensley and wife Kathleen of Oark, Arkansas, Jack Hensley and wife Daphne of Monett, Missouri; five step grandchildren; and five step great-grandchildren.
