Pamela “Mama Pam” Shelden, 72, of Pampa, entered into the eternal embrace of her Lord and Savior on Monday, May 19, 2025 surrounded by her loving family.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, May 22, 2025 at the Community Christian Church of Pampa with Frank Winters, a close family friend, officiating. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
Pam was born on May 15, 1953 in Canyon to Afton “Curly” Williams and Ola Maye Scribner Williams. She lived in Canyon until she was 15 when her family moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico. Pam graduated from Santa Fe High School in 1971. She decided to further her education and earned her bachelor's degree in agronomy at Oklahoma Panhandle State University. In 1989, Pam met Billy Shelden and it was love at first sight. They knew each other for only 10 days before they were married. Everyone that met Pam and Billy knew they were perfect for each other.
Pam was a devout Christian, she loved her Lord more than anything and it was incredibly important to her that all of her people knew about Jesus. She enjoyed serving the Lord at her church through Pastoring and Praise and Worship and running sound for Chapel for the Community Christian School. Pamela opened her home and most importantly her heart to everyone. Her family remembers several times when random people would show up to family gatherings and she would treat them just like her children. She held a special place in her heart for her children at the school. Pam worked at the Cinema 4 movie theater for a while and enjoyed spending time with her “theater kids”, who lovingly called her “Mama Pam”.
Pam loved traveling out west with her husband and going off the beaten path to find petroglyphs, or cave drawings. She enjoyed spending time outdoors while gardening or caring for all 25 of her chickens. Pam’s family often joked that she was the “family meteorologist”, always updating her people on the latest panhandle weather news.
Pam was the best grandma ever, she attended every choir concert, band performance, and piano recital. She was the best at sending angels to family and friends to watch over them while they traveled and she would simply send a text message saying, “Angels”. If you ever talked on the phone with Pam, you probably heard “Oh Bailey’s calling, I gotta go.”
Pam was preceded in death by her parents, Curly and Ola Maye Williams.
She is survived her husband, Billy Shelden of the home; six children, Bailey Waters and husband Austin of Felt, Oklahoma, Jeb Shelden and wife Madison Kay Fatheree Shelden of Amarillo, Jesse Caddell and husband Adam of Griggs, Oklahoma, Ashley Loe and husband Damon of Denver, Breanne Schwiegerath and husband Troy of Pampa, and Terra Scott and husband Jason of Pampa; two siblings, DéAun Chavez of Gallup, New Mexico and Cap Williams of the Philippines; 15 grandchildren, Dillon Scott, Dax Scott, Dasen Scott, Dage Scott, Christian Coleman, Alexxy Roelfson, Jetta Grant, Lauren Schwiegerath, Drew Caddell, Dylan Caddell, Tayton Caddell, Levi Joel Shelden, Pierce Waters, Dakota Loe, and Colton Loe; several great-grandchildren; and numerous other family members, friends, and adopted children.
The family asks that donations made in Pam’s honor be made to the Community Christian School, 1633 N Nelson, Pampa, Texas, 79065.
