Wesley Patrick “Pat” Bagley was born on January 27, 1944, in Pampa to Winfield Kenneth and Anne Loreene (Medlen) Bagley. As a young boy, his family moved to Canyon, TX where he grew up and graduated from Canyon High School in 1962. Following high school, Pat moved to Denton to study at North Texas University for a while before he returned to Canyon to finish his bachelor’s degree in Political Science at West Texas State University.

After college, Pat took work as an offshore welder, working in Norway before he returned to Texas. Once back in Texas, he worked as a carpenter, where he built homes and performed remodeling jobs. In January of 1976, he met his true love, Rae Hatch, and her two children. They would get married soon after in June of that year and few years later he legally adopted Leslie and Kenneth.

Although Pat loved his carpentry work, he would later enter a career that helped define his life and it would span 40+ years. Pat first started with the City of Amarillo Tax Office, then the Potter and Randall Appraisal District, and in 1987, he moved back to Pampa and became Chief Appraiser of the Gray County Appraisal District.

Pat was a community and civic minded man who offered up his time and talents to help Pampa. He served on many different boards for many decades that included the Celebration of Lights, Community Daycare of Pampa, the Pampa Tourism Committee, the Kiwanis Club, and the Texas Association of Appraisal Districts where he served as President in 2004.

Pat had a very strong work ethic, but he did enjoy his free time, especially being at his cabin in New Mexico that he and Rae built. He could be found there enjoying his morning coffee and appreciating all the wildlife that made their way around. However, what was most important to him was his family. Pat will be remembered as loving man who was honest, and he tried very hard to always be fair and impartial. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends and the amazing staff and therapists at Mesa View Senior Living.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings Winfield, Wayne, Terry, and Bob Bagley, Barbara (Bagley) Shaffer, and Araleene (Bagley) Downing; brother-in-law Larry Hatch; grandchild Chafen Wilson.

Pat is survived by his wife, Rae Bagley of the home; a daughter, Leslie Gonzales and husband Noe of Whitewright, TX; a son, Kenneth Bagley and wife Jill of Elk City, Oklahoma; grandchildren Selina and husband Cody, Kelsi and husband Aaron, Kayli and husband Anthony, Andrew, Chandon and husband Felipe, Kade and wife Ana, and Conor and wife Shelby; great-grandchildren Montgomery, Hensley, Ayden, Leilani, Eva, Winter, Maximus, Kaden, Emory, Silas, Valen, and Ruby; sisters Joyce Crooks and Martha Mandell; brother Walt Bagley; sisters-in law – Fae, Ruth, Cathy, Ann, Dana, and Suzanne; brothers-in-law Harold, Jim, and Dan; numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Judes , Celebration of Lights c/o City of Pampa, or the Community Daycare Child Development Center at 800 N. Sumner St. Pampa, TX 79065.
