Patricia Ann Dunigan Frisby

June 14, 1928 — February 7, 2021

Patricia Ann Dunigan Frisby, 92, of Austin, TX, died at home of natural causes on February 7, 2021 with all her children and her devoted caregivers, Soledad Mejia and Mary Jane Suniega RN nearby.

Graveside services will be 3:00 PM Monday, February 8, 2021 at Fairview Cemetery in Pampa with Deacon Mark McVay, deacon from St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, officiating.  Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael Whatley Funeral Directors. Patsy was buried next to her husband, son, and mother-in-law. A Memorial Mass will be said at Patsy’s home parish, St. Catherine of Siena in Austin.

Patsy was born June 14, 1928 to Edward Joseph and Beatrice (Sloan) Dunigan of Pampa, TX. Following the untimely deaths of her mother, infant brother and one week later her sister, Kathleen in September 1929, Patsy and her father enjoyed familial support from Bess and Frank Dunigan, their children Frank, Mike and JED; Vera and Mel Davis, their children Billy and Doris Anne; Florance Dunigan, and then eventually her dear stepmother Ethel Dunigan and brothers Michael (Susan), Timothy, Dennis, and Terrence Dunigan. Patsy attended Ursuline Academy boarding school in Dallas. After graduating from St. Mary’s High School of Amarillo and attending St. Mary’s College of South Bend, IN, Patsy married John J. Frisby on April 18, 1949 at Holy Souls Catholic Church of Pampa. Their family business, Atlas Tank Co., provided oil field service through the 1950s and into the 1960s.

In 1964 the Frisbys moved to McAllen, TX, and soon found themselves with the world’s best neighbors, Elida and Lito Hinojosa and their girls. Patsy and John were active in McAllen’s Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church and school. Patsy taught religious education and served as organist for OLS and St. Jude’s in Pharr. She was one of the original members of The Pharr Oratory of St. Philip Neri. Patsy and John later settled west of Austin in 1993 to be close to many of their children and grandchildren. Patsy served as an Extraordinary Minister of Communion and catechist at their church, St. Catherine of Siena.

Patsy and John eagerly anticipated their annual reunion in different parts of the country with members and spouses of John’s B-17 crew from World War II. Visiting dear friends, the Cavilias, Woods, Schwinds, Dosiers, Sloans and Rolliers was always a treat. Until recently, Patsy enjoyed knitting, politics, playing cards and dice competitively (“an’ rolling”), sneaking carrots to the family’s horse, frequent phone calls with loved ones, hosting dear guests including Prescille Spaulding, and never forgetting birthdays and special occasions.

Patsy was preceded in death by her husband, John and their son, Jay, and her brother, Timothy Dunigan.

She is survived by four sons and two daughters, Mark Frisby and wife Deborah of Lebanon, IN, Kathleen Frisby of Fairbanks, AK, Gary Frisby and wife Dawna of Mission, TX, Chris Frisby of Houston, TX, Mollie Bea and husband Stefan Passernig of Austin, TX, and Joel Frisby and wife Georgiana of Austin, TX. Frisby grandchildren include: John, Robert, Gregory, James (Claire), Anne-Marie, Julia, Chris J., Patricia, Tanner, Morgan, Christina, Eugene (Kristiona), Joshua, Fannie, Elle, Carissa; Passernigs: Anna, Katharina (David Hauser), Ruth and Jakob; Tiffany (d) and Travis Smith, and Jade Ahlfs. Great grandchildren, Austen Smith, Maria and Sebastian Hauser, Christian Ahlfs, Cyrus Hugny-Farr, Kaleb and Isabella Frisby.

On behalf of our mother, we children give special thanks to our sister Mollie Bea for her special dedication, love, and compassionate care for our mother her last several years.
