Patricia “Patty” Young, 59, of Amarillo, entered into her heavenly home on Thursday, May 28, 2026 in McLean.
A celebration of Patty’s life will be held at 9:30 AM on Thursday, June 4, 2026 at Carpenter’s Church with Pastor Jim Sinyard, officiating. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
Patty was born on August 1, 1966 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to Wendell Lawrence Palmer and Barbara Jean Hines Palmer. She graduated from Pampa High School in 1984. After graduating, Patty enrolled in nursing school at Seward County Community College in Liberal, Kansas. She worked as nurse at the prisons in Pampa, different nursing homes, home health, and in the emergency department. Patty eventually went back to school and completed a two-year degree in medical coding. She did whatever she could to provide for her family.
Patty enjoyed trying new makeup looks and looking her best. She also enjoyed watching paranormal investigation shows. However, there was nothing Patty liked more than spending time with her family. She showed her family how to laugh when it was hard through her unique sense of humor. Patty was generous and would do anything she could to help the people she loved. She had an infectious smile and an even better laugh. Patty was outgoing and kind. She was strong from raising three boys on her own and maybe a little hard-headed. Patty was firm in her faith and was truly a God-fearing woman. She will be missed deeply by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rickey Eugene Young; her parents, Wendell and Barbara Palmer; and her goddaughter, Nikki Mulanax.
Patty is survived by her three sons, Brennen Young of Amarillo, Cole Young and wife Kasey of Pampa; and DJ Young of Amarillo; six grandchildren, Jake, Jayda, Aiden, Brayden, Nate, and AdiLynn; two brothers, Tom Palmer and wife Charolette of Atoka, Tennessee and David Palmer and wife Sonya of Austin; her special cousin and close friend, Shelli Hayes; and several nieces and nephews.
