Pampa

Ramiro Soto, 92, of Pampa, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on May 5, 2025.

Funeral mass is scheduled for 10:00 AM Friday, May 9, 2025, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with Rev. Guadalupe Mayorga officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

Ramiro was born on July 22, 1932, in Laredo, Texas, to Librado and Nazaria Soto. He worked as a farmhand for many years throughout his youth before moving to Pampa in 1952. After moving to Pampa, Ramiro would marry Manuela Madrid in 1961, and the two enjoyed 34 years together before Manuela passed in 1995.

Ramiro worked anywhere he could during this time, spending time as a truck driver, construction worker, and many more. He took pride in providing for his family and was an extremely hard worker; even as he aged, he continued to work hard as a Janitor and bus monitor for Pampa ISD, as well as being an associate at Dollar General.

Ramiro loved being involved in the community here in Pampa, making it to every parade, fourth of July celebrations, and the Celebration of Lights. He was an extremely generous and caring man who loved to help anyone in any way he could. He also had a love for country music, especially Willie Nelson, Conway Twitty, and Loretta Lynn. Ramiro will be remembered for his kind and caring nature, his love of avocados, and being a great provider for his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two sons, Roy Madrid Soto and Dell Soto; and a grandson, Dayla Storm Soto.

Survivors include his son, Ray Soto and partner Pamela Marszal; two daughters, Priscilla Deland Soto and Dona Ayala; a brother, Eufemio Soto; a special friend, Katrina Lesher; a daughter-in-law, Glenna Swanson and husband Robert; a grand-daughter-in-law, Rachel Moore; two nieces, Michelle Resendiz, and April Gomez and son Hylee Gomez; a nephew, Mathew Gomez; four grandchildren, Paul Swanson, Tisney Swanson, Heaven Boyett, and Becky Covalt; and three great grandchildren, Sunli Soto, Gunner Soto, and Dean Soto.
