Raymond was born on January 1, 1959 in Pampa to Clyde “Tooter” Henry and Clara “Nelle” Moore Collins. Raymond was enrolled in the Lefors schools before deciding that school just wasn’t for him. He married Coy Nicholas on May 27, 1976. Raymond went to work on a feed lot for a few years before he started working as a welder in the oil field. He and Coy later opened a locksmith company. However, he was only able to help Coy for just a few years before finding his true calling in dirt contracting. Raymond successfully owned and operated Raymond Henry Services until his retirement this year. He was incredibly skilled at building lakes and ponds both commercially and residentially. Raymond was essential in building the ponds and water systems at Mesa Vista Ranch from 1999 to 2022.
However, Raymond’s true passion was raising bucking bulls. He and Coy spent several years raising bucking bulls. Some of which went to the PBR finals and were American Bucking Bulls, Inc. champions. Raymond also enjoyed flying and obtained his pilot’s license several years ago. He had a few planes and liked to load up with his family and friends, fly down to the coast and of course, go fishing. Raymond loved fishing, particularly sport fishing. He enjoyed going out on his boat and catching big marlin, Raymond occasionally was known to push people out of the chair so he could reel a big one in. He was a fun loving and hardworking man that almost never showed his ornery side.
Raymond was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Lefors where he served as a deacon until his passing. He showed his love for the Lord in various ways by caring for his land and his animals, volunteering wherever he could, and loving his family and friends. Raymond leaves behind a legacy of a hardworking, Christian values that won’t be forgotten.
