Reba Gail Cooper

May 21, 1943 — January 20, 2022

Gail Cooper, 78, of Spring Lake, Michigan, formerly of Pampa, passed away on January 20, 2022.

Services will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at Central Baptist Church with Rev. Norman Rushing, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

Gail was born on May 12, 1943 in Oklahoma to Lloyd and Eunice Spears Hinkle. Her family moved to Pampa when she started high school. She was a 1961 graduate of Pampa High School. Gail married the love of her life, David Cooper, on March 16, 1963 at the Hobart Baptist Church in Pampa. They shared 53 years together before his passing in 2016. Gail was extremely proud of their marriage and the years they were together. In 1993, Gail lost her only child, Karla Nelson to cancer. Gail and David took in their granddaughter, Keziah, and helped raise her for several years. She worked in the cafeteria at the junior high for many years until her retirement. Gail loved to shop, the only thing she enjoyed more was giving the things she had bought to her family and friends. During her years in Pampa she was very active in the church. In 2020 when Gail moved to Michigan to be closer to her granddaughter, she still kept her faith, however she was unable to attend church like she wanted due to the pandemic. Gail loved her dogs and would often walk her neighbor's dogs just to help them out. She enjoyed crafting and often gave her crafts as gifts to those close to her.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years; her daughter, Karla Nelson; her parents; her brother, Darrell Hinkle; and one nephew, Jeff Hinkle.

Gail is survived by her granddaughter, Keziah Bussell and husband Nathan; three great-grandchildren, Tanner, Evelyn, and Charlotte Bussell; sister-in-law, Norma Hinkle; niece, Jennifer Hinkle; and several other extended family members.

Memorials may be made to the Pampa Animal Welfare Shelter, 811 S Hobart, Pampa, Texas, 79065.
