Robert Paul Morgan

Robert Paul Morgan, 85, of Amarillo, and formerly of Pampa, passed away on Sunday, June 26, 2022, in Amarillo.

Graveside services will be 1:00 PM Saturday, July 9, 2022, in the Memory Gardens Mausoleum with Eddie Hankins of the Bell Avenue Church of Christ in Amarillo, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

Robert Paul Morgan was born on February 16, 1937, in Mannington, West Virginia to Paul and Grace Morgan. He then moved to Farmington, West Virginia with his family where he lived until joining the Army. Robert joined the Army on May 10, 1956, where he served in the Korean conflict. He was discharged on October 16, 1958, and returned to Farmington to work on the family farm. He later moved to Pampa where he met his future wife, Nelda Tennison. The two were married for 58 years and had three sons: David, Danny, and Donny. He then moved his family to Canadian, Texas, where he worked for Mobil Oil Company. He eventually transferred to Duncan, Oklahoma to finish out his 25-year-long career with the company.

After retiring, Robert and Nelda moved to Amarillo, where he spent the last five years of his life. He loved his wife and all his kids and grandkids and enjoyed getting to spend time with them. He also loved to fish. Robert will be missed and never forgotten. He was the rock and leader of the group. Rest with your Maker, for your journey is done. We will see you again. We love you!

Robert is preceded in death by his father and mother; and two brothers, Billy and Charles.

He leaves behind his wife, Nelda Morgan of the home; three sons, David Morgan and wife Zontee of San Antonio, Danny Morgan and wife Sharon, and Donny Morgan and wife Fay, all of Amarillo; seven grandchildren, Jeremy Morgan and wife Amanda of Phoenix, Arizona; Kelby Reed and husband Travis of Amarillo, Daylin Morgan of Austin; Kassie Morgan, Madeline Carter and husband Dakota, Jacob Morgan, and Ella Morgan; two great-grandchildren, Layken and Taylen all of Amarillo; one brother, Jack Morgan of Bardstown, Kentucky; and several nieces and a nephew.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 3915 Bell St., Amarillo, TX 79109.
