Lefors

Robert Slatten, 79, of Lefors, passed away on May 11, 2026, in Wheeler.

No services for Robert are scheduled at this time. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

Robert was born on October 29, 1946, in Liberal, Kansas to Frank and Wennona Slatten. He grew up in Turpin and Tyrone, Oklahoma where he would finish school. Shortly after high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and would be stationed in Germany. After serving his country and his discharge, Robert would marry Luella “Louie” Kerr on October 12, 1968, in Liberal, and they would raise their two children, Lisa and Jarrod and shared almost 58 years before her passing.

In 1986, Robert and family would move to Lefors. While living in Gray County, he worked in the oil & gas industry as a pumper for C & G and Curtis Well Service and he would retire in 2020. In his spare time, Robert liked to travel and go to Casinos, but he especially liked attending and competing in dirt track racing events where he and his son, Jarrod, would work as a team. However, what was most important to him was being with his grandson, Joseph.

Robert was a light-hearted and fun-loving person with a dry sense of humor that many people found comforting. He will be remembered as a strong and independent man who was always just one phone call away.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Louie Slatten; brothers, Kenneth Slatten and Truman Slatten; and a sister-in-law, Johnnie Slatten.

Robert is survived by two children, Lisa Glassey and husband Casey of St. Peters, Missouri, and Jarrod Slatten of Pampa; one grandchild, Joseph Slatten and wife Jess; one great-grandchild, Jorja Slatten; brother, Herman Slatten of Tyrone; sister, Sandra Trimble and husband Tom of Fort Worth; one brother-in-law, Ronnie Kerr and wife Sheryl of Tyrone, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces and nephews.
