Buddy was born October 25, 1939 in Wheeler to Roy and Willene Waters. He graduated from Briscoe High School in 1958. Buddy grew up around cattle trucks his whole life, due to his father’s family business, Waters Livestock Transportation. At the early age of 8, Buddy would be at the sale barn with his father and would back trucks up for drivers for a quarter. After high school, he took over the family business and operated it for many years. Buddy then went to work for B&B Solvent and worked for many years for the Terry Family until it closed. Buddy continued his love for truck driving and hauling cattle. He worked for Ken Gill until his truck accident in 2021. He retired at 82 years old.
Buddy married Marion Kay Graves on July 18, 1975 in Pampa. They were married for 48 years before she passed away on May 2, 2024. Buddy was a wonderful and faithful caregiver of Kay.
Cattle trucks were Buddy’s passion. He loved being around and hauling cattle. Buddy drove many miles over the years hauling cattle. Buddy was known by many by his CB handle “Cow Taxi”. His love for trucks never stopped when he retired. He would spend time looking out the window at his house just watching the trucks go by. He would call out the make of each one as they passed his house. Buddy was a quiet man, but one who loved his family. He was PaPa to his grandchildren, and he was proud of each of them. Buddy loved to watch PBR and Rodeos in person and on TV. He also was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Speck Waters; sister, Patsy Railsback; sister-in-law, Paula Graves; mother-in-law, Nellie Graves; father-in-law, Dan Graves; nephews, Roy Waters, Brody Waters, Justin Graves, and Jeff Railsback.
Survivors include his two daughters, Jodie Waters and husband Shea Davis of Canadian, and Jeree Woods and husband Kevin of Pampa; three grandsons, Taylor Woods and wife Elaine of Amarillo, Kade Woods and wife Haley of Borger, and Wyatt Davis of Canadian; a granddaughter, Chloe Davis of Canadian; great-grandchildren, Weston Woods, Hagen Woods, and Janey Woods; brother-in-law, Gary Graves of Mineola, Texas; sister-in-law, Cheryl Waters of Neosho, Missouri; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
