Roy "Pa" Graves

May 5, 1951 — August 29, 2022

Roy “Pa” Graves, 71, of Pampa, gained his wings on Monday, August 29, 2022, in Pampa.

Memorial services will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, September 3, 2022, at the Carpenter’s Church with Rev. Jim Sinyard, pastor, officiating. Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

Roy was born on May 5, 1951, in Altus, Oklahoma to Roy Malcomb and Ida Dorles Graves. He grew up in Sudan, Texas and attended school there. Throughout most of his life, Roy worked as a diesel mechanic. He was employed by Triangle Well Services for 15 years, and then Holman Well Services for another 15 years. Roy married the love of his life, Carolyn, and the two were married for the past 44 years. The couple loved each other deeply and enjoyed their lives together.

Although we had very short notice from God above, and maybe it was a split-second decision on His part, Roy followed Him right through those gates, into the streets of gold. Our family will miss him greatly. It just goes to show you, tell your loved ones how much they mean to you, because it only takes a second for them to be gone forever.

Roy is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert Graves; mother-in-law, Margaret McGahen; brother-in-law, Jay Carroll; daughter of the heart, Amy Birchler; and nephew, Robert Bruce.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Graves of the home; three sons, Roy Gene Graves, Jr. and wife Emma of Flower Mound, Ronnie Quillian and wife Charlie of Dickinson, North Dakota, and James McGahen of Pampa; two daughters, Amanda Decker and husband Jerry of Sweetwater, and Shanna Marshall of Pampa; three grandchildren, Jastein McGahen and wife Alyssa of Fort Hood, Coultyn McGahen and girlfriend Kannon Roe of Houston, and Elyvia Kia McGahen of Waxahachie; two brothers, Terry Graves and wife Terri of Littlefield, and James Earl Graves of Lubbock; one sister, Dorles Faye Snook of Bossier City, Louisiana; two sisters-in-law, Phyllis Carroll of Pampa, and Cora Cotton and husband Gary of Ozark, Missouri; two nieces, Kristi Bruce, and Melissa Smith and husband Adam, all of Pampa; great-niece, Jayci Carroll; great-nephew, Trevor Smith of Lubbock; great-great-niece, Aspen Grace Carroll of Pampa; and numerous other friends and family members.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to PAWS at P.O. Box 2095, Pampa, TX, 79066.

The family will be at 2615 Seminole Dr. throughout the week to visit friends and family that wish to come by.
