She was born to Shelton David and Ruth (Ferguson) Winegeart on December 22, 1924 in Wellington, Texas.

Her first husband, Roy Dale Andrews, was killed in action in Europe during World War II. Later, Rubye attended Wayland Baptist College and received her Bachelor’s Degree at Texas Tech University.

In 1947 she married Austin Ruddick in Borger, Texas. Their 4 children are:   Roena, Lorie, Randy and Jana. That union ended in divorce.

She loved the Lord and served faithfully many years at Central Baptist Church as Sunday School Teacher, a Choir Member and as a member of the Handbell Ringing Group. Rubye enjoyed being part of a singing group of ladies called the “Put-Ons.” They performed for many groups in the Texas Panhandle.

After retiring from teaching, Rubye enjoyed several years of travel. She enjoyed growing and arranging flowers. Family was very important to her, and she relished time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She volunteered with Meals on Wheels for several years.  Rubye’s life wasn’t always easy, but her faith in God, music,  and her sense of humor helped her through rough times.
