Sharle Esther Black

Sharle Esther Black, 90, passed away peacefully in her home on May 24, 2025, in Amarillo, Texas.

Graveside services will be 2:00 PM, Friday, May 30, 2025, at the Roberts County Cemetery with Rev. Josh Reeves of the Miami Methodist Church, officiating. Burial and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

Sharle was born on December 13, 1934, on the family farm south of Miami, Texas to Elmo “Slack” and Maggie Gill. She graduated from Miami High School.

She married James Donald Black December 27, 1952.

She is survived by her husband of 73 years, James Donald Black; two sons, Jim Don Black (Becky) of Canadian and Gil Black (Connie) of Amarillo; a sister-in-law, Sarah Gill; a brother, James Roy Gill; five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; six great grandchildren; seeveral nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Terry Gill.

The family suggests memorials be made to Miami Volunteer Fire Department, 214 North Main Street, Miami, Texas 79059.
