Sonya Reneé Sweeney, 54, of Pampa, passed away on September 28, 2025, in Pampa.
Celebration of life memorial service will be 10:00 AM, Thursday, October 2, 2025, at the Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Pastor Jamisen Hancock of Briarwood Church, officiating. Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
Sonya was born on January 14, 1971, in Midland, Texas to Carol Martin. As a young girl her family moved to Pampa where she attended school and lived majority of her life. After high school, she married Doug Winkleblack and although they parted, in this union, they would have their daughter, Ashleé. Sonya would then meet the love of her life, Jeff Sweeney. They were married in 1999, and this relationship would blend two families together.
In the late 80’s through early 90’s, Sonya worked for Clement’s Flowers where she first discovered her love for crafting and forged many lifelong friendships. She then worked as a secretary for years, most recently with the Texas Department of Public Safety.
In her spare time, Sonya loved spending time with her only granddaughter, Bree Ryan; she was an avid reader, enjoyed baking, and spent hours quilting and crafting over the years.
Sonya was a gentle and easy-going person who was genuine and selfless. If you needed advice, a shoulder to cry on, a quick Dr. Pepper run, or to hear the hard facts she was the one you called. Sonya was always quick to let anyone know her greatest accomplishment in life was being G to B. Ryan.
Sonya will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be missed by all.
Sonya was preceded in death by her mother and a sister, Tracy Martin.
Sonya is survived by her husband, Jeff Sweeney of the home; two daughters, Ashleé Davis and husband Keenan, and K’Leigh Douglas and husband Reese; two sons, Jeffrey Sweeney and wife Melanie, and Roper Sweeney and wife Hunter, all of Pampa; six grandchildren, Bree Ryan, Clayton, Ryver, Sylar, Jasper, and Colter; sisters, Marsia Allard and husband Chuck of Pampa, Teresa Perry of North Carolina, Debbie McDonald and husband Robert of McLean, and Toni White and husband Shane of Pampa; special nieces and nephews, LaShonda, Jesse, Haylea, Eric, Garrett, and Shane; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
