Steve Lash, 69, of Pampa, entered into his heavenly home on Tuesday, May 12, 2026 surrounded by family and friends.
Services will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 16, 2026 at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Byron Williamson, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Friday, May 15, 2026 in the parlor at the First Baptist Church.
Steve was born on August 30, 1956 in Lubbock to Eldon and Betty White Lash. He was a lifelong resident of Pampa and graduated from Pampa High School in 1974. After graduating, Steve attended Texas State Technical Institute where he excelled in the welding program. He worked as a machinist at Panhandle Industries for several years. Steve started his career as a corrections officer at the prison in 1994 and continued working there until his retirement in August of 2011.
He married the love of his life, Pam Bagley, on October 19, 1990 at the First Baptist Church. Steve was an active member at the First Baptist Church and was a loyal volunteer in the children’s ministry where he found an immense amount of joy. He was affectionally called “Mr. Steve” by all of the children. He enjoyed flying his drones, riding his electric bike, and riding three wheelers. Steve was long suffering Cowboys fan and enjoyed watching every game he could. He also enjoyed woodworking, making jewelry, and making knives. Steve found peace working with his hands. He loved working on cars, especially his 1968 Corvette. Every year he was asked if he could drive someone to prom in his Corvette. Steve was a proud dog dad to the many Great Pyrenees he owned over the years. He will be missed for his giving heart, his sense of humor, and the love he showed others.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eldon and Betty Lash; his father and mother-in-law, Melvyn and Mary Bagley; two sisters, Vickie Dawson and Patty Baggett; and one brother-in-law, James Bagley.
Steve is survived by his wife of 35 years, Pam Lash; two nephews, Ricky Cloud and Jason Baggett; niece, Mandy Baggett; sister-in-law, Linda Bagley; several cousins; a host of friends; and his dog, Samson the Great Pyrenees.
Memorials may be sent to the First Baptist Church, Children’s Division, 203 N West St, Pampa, Texas, 79065.
