Virgil “Bud” Wyatt, 85, of Pampa, passed away on Saturday, June 7, 2025 at his home with his wife by his side.
Memorial graveside services will be at 1:00 PM on Friday, June 13, 2025 at the Memory Gardens Mausoleum with Pastor Kyle Ohsfeldt, pastor at Grace Baptist Church, officiating. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
Bud was born on July 19, 1939 in Dumas to John Wesley and Opal Lee Bassham Wyatt. He attended school in Skellytown and White Deer before enlisting in the United States Navy. Bud served his country selflessly for over 20 years, completing four tours of duty in Vietnam. After an honorable discharge, he decided to further his education by earning his bachelor's degree. Bud worked in the cafeteria at the prison for several years before it became too hard on his body. He later went on to open his own shop, T&B Wood Works.
Bud met the love of his life, Tina, at the Hitchin’ Rail and they were married on February 8, 1963 at the parsonage in Borger. They were married 62 years before his passing. Bud was a published author having written one book, Lee’s Valley, and was working on another book at the time of his passing. He enjoyed spending time fishing, hunting, and camping. Bud was known for his outgoing nature and ornery spirit. He was a kind-hearted man and even though illness and circumstance brought hardship throughout his life he continued to show kindness to everyone. Bud was a one of kind man that won’t soon be forgotten by family or friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Wesley and Opal Lee Wyatt; his son, Marvin Wesley Wyatt; one sister, Peggy Jo Lybrand; and one brother, John Wyatt.
Bud is survived by his spouse, Tina Wyatt of the home; his daughter, Candace Hopkins and husband Rusty of Borger; three grandchildren, Tara Hopkins of Borger, Donald Wesley Wyatt and wife Sierra of Lefors, and Brandee Nicole “Nikki” Green and husband Brandon of Arizona; five great-grandchildren, Zoe Wyatt, River Wyatt, Luna Wyatt, Connor Green, and Adler Green; his “adopted” daughter, Melissa Jones; his devoted caretakes, LaTasha Phillips and Yolanda Hardy; one daughter-in-law, Gidget Wyatt of Arizona; and numerous other extended family members and friends.
