Walden was born September 15, 1930 to Frank and Lola Haynes in Fort Sumner, New Mexico. Growing up, the family lived in Amarillo, Bethany, Oklahoma and Mobeetie where he graduated in 1949. There, he met Joy Davis and they wed on January 8, 1950. They were married for 69 years before her passing in February 2019. He stopped loving her today-May 11, 2020.

Walden lived his life in service to others with no desire for recognition. First, he served his family. He was a long-time member of the Pampa Optimist Club where he coached Babe Ruth baseball for over 20 years as well as volunteering at Pampa Senior Citizens delivering meals.

Walden was a “taxi” service for his family and friends taking them back and forth to Amarillo for medical appointments and was an active member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, quietly serving in the background.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Lola Haynes; his siblings, Wauline Reynolds, Glenna Matheu, Glorice Jones and Dale Haynes; his son-in-law, Mike Gomez; his daughter-in-law, Linda Wynn Haynes.

He is survived by his children, Steve Haynes of Lubbock, Gary Haynes and his wife Margaret of Hinton, Oklahoma and Kathy Gomez of Pampa; his grandchildren, Jennifer Lynn, Christopher Haynes, Tyler Haynes, Joshua Haynes, Emily Roberson, Andrew Haynes, April Gomez, Mathew Gomez, Michelle Resendiz; his great-grandchildren, Kaleb Lynn, Emma Lynn, Timothy Haynes, Lindsay Haynes, Jackson Haynes, Hudson Haynes, Ezra Haynes, Madeline Haynes, Hylee Gomez, Hanah Gomez, Easton Resendiz and Kaiya Resendiz.
