William (Bill) Joseph Allein

On December 8, 2025 William (Bill) Joseph Allein of Amarillo, Texas was called by the Lord, to join his wife of 40 years, Vivian Genave Allein, who preceded him in death, May 2025.

William was born February 2, 1942 in Buffalo New York. The first-born son of Joseph and Loraine Allein. He is survived by his siblings Mary (James) Barnum, Susan Green and Joann Matthewson, who shared his early years, his stories, and the history only brothers and sisters can understand. He was preceded in death by his brother Richard (Karen) Allein and brother-in-law Robert Matthewson.

He grew up in Buffalo and carried a bold, head strong spirit with him throughout his life. He had opinions-plenty of them and did not mind sharing them, weather you agreed or not you always knew exactly where he stood. He approached life the same way direct, determined and marching to the beat of his own drum. His presence influenced those around him in ways that were real and uniquely his.

He was a man whose personality filled whatever space he was in, sometimes to our delight, often in our amusement and always in a way we won’t forget. He lived with conviction, volume and a certain unapologetic confidence. Subtlety was never his style.

He was a long-standing member of St. Mary’s Catholic Cathedral and served as a deacon for the Diocese of Amarillo from 2006 to 2017—an important chapter of his life and faith. In that ministry, he offered guidance, compassion, and a steady spiritual presence to his community, sharing his belief in God and his commitment to serving others.

His life was shaped in many ways by the women around him. As the father of four daughters, he raised them with a steady message that they were capable, strong, and able to chart their own path. He championed their independence and made it clear that he believed in the strength and capability of women. He raised his daughters to know they could stand on their own, make their own decisions, and achieve whatever they set their minds to.

He is survived by his four daughters—Deborah (Joseph) Epler Jr., Linda (Tatsuo) Fukuoka, Pamela Kuhn, and Rebecca (Jason) Petross—who carry forward the strength, independence, and grit he encouraged in each of them. He is also survived by his former wife, Shirley Murray Allein who he shared an important chapter of his life.

He also leaves behind 16 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, each part of the large, lively family tree that grew from his life. Vivian’s four children, Scott, David, Donald, and Angela Abernathy also held a special place in his heart, and he embraced them as his family. Numerous cousins, nieces and nephews will carry fond memories of Bill.

The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the wonderfully caring staff at The Sycamore Park Central in Amarillo, Texas. Their compassion and support brought comfort, dignity, and peace in his final chapter.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Buffalo, New York, where family and friends will gather to honor his life and share stories in the place that meant so much to him. Local arrangements are under the direction of Camichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
