William “Bill” Wade III, 78, of Pampa, passed away on Sunday, October 5, 2025 in Amarillo.
Services will be 10:00 AM Monday, October 13, 2025 in Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Pastor Jamisen Hancock, pastor of Briarwood Church, officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
Bill was born June 16, 1947 in Corpus Christi. After he graduated in 1965 from Monterey High School he enrolled at Texas Tech University. On August 24, 1966 he was drafted into the US Army. Bill was a Vietnam Veteran serving until his discharge in 1968. When Bill returned home from the war, he began a long career with Energas. He would work in the Lubbock region from 1969 until 1992 when he took the role as District Manager in Pampa. Bill would continue to work for Energas in Pampa until 1999. Bill wasn’t fully ready to retire, so he began driving a truck for various companies which included Groendyke Transport and Eastex Trucking. In 2011, he was involved in tragic wreck that would affect him for the rest of his life.
On April 16, 1981 he married Carol Green. Together they spent 40 wonderful years. She passed away on May 16, 2021. Bill had a kind spirit with a great sense of humor. He could be a bit onery from time to time, but it was always good fun. Bill was member of VFW Post 1657.
Bill has had struggles the past several years dealing with the effects of agent orange and losing his wife, Carol. He was a fighter through all of his adversities.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his three sons, Eric Wade and wife Megan of Amarillo, Trey Lauderdale of Pampa, and Shawn Lauderdale and wife Meredith of Wake Forrest, North Carolina; sister, Gailan Chamberlain of Monahans; and four grandchildren, Lexxi Lauderdale, Chevy Lauderdale, Legend Lauderdale, and CharLee Carol Lauderdale.
