William Harold “Bill” Hite II, a devoted husband, father, pharmacist, and community leader, passed away on May 12, 2025, in Dallas, Texas.

A funeral service to celebrate Bill’s life will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, May 17, 2025, at Oak Lawn United Methodist Church in Dallas, Texas.

He was born on December 16, 1941, in Elk City, Oklahoma, to William Harold Hite and Lucille Creswell Hite. Shortly after his birth, the family moved to Borger, Texas, where Bill graduated from Borger High School in 1960.

He attended Texas Tech University, where he studied science, and later graduated from Southwestern Oklahoma State University’s College of Pharmacy in Weatherford, Oklahoma, in 1967. On January 20, 1968, he married Ramona Aurouze at the First United Methodist Church in Borger, Texas. They moved to Pampa, Texas, where they joined First Methodist Church and were active members for decades.

Bill joined the Heard & Jones Drug Store family business in Pampa as a pharmacist, also leading marketing and advertising efforts for their four stores. He later purchased the business and continued to serve the Pampa community for 49 years with dedication and integrity. Under his leadership, the store was recognized as Health Mart Pharmacy of the Year in 1990 and was honored as Business of the Year by the Pampa Chamber of Commerce in 2012.

Bill was a pillar of the community, actively involved in numerous civic organizations, including the Pampa Chamber of Commerce, the Gold Coats, the Downtown Business Association, and the Pampa Industrial Foundation. He served on the Fairview Cemetery Board and was a long-time member and past president of the Pampa Lions Club in 1975. At First United Methodist Church, he held numerous leadership roles, including Chairman of the Staff-Parish Relations Committee, the Finance Committee, the Administrative Board, and the Board of Trustees.

Beyond his professional and civic life, Bill found great joy in the outdoors. He loved fishing, hunting, gardening, and cheering on the New York Yankees. Some of his fondest memories were spent fishing at Gething’s Ranch with his close friends. He and Ramona also enjoyed traveling together, especially memorable trips to England and Germany with their dear friends Doug and Sara Carmichael.

In 2016, after retiring, Bill and Ramona moved to Dallas and lived at Belmont Village. He deeply enjoyed being in the same city as his children and embraced this new chapter of life surrounded by family.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Troy Sublett.

Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Ramona Hite; his son, Chris Hite; his daughter, Meredith Hite Herzog, and son-in-law, Cade Herzog; his sister, Susan Hite Sublett; his brother, Roger Hite and wife Barbara; three step grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the First Methodist Church in Pampa, Texas, in honor of Bill’s generous and enduring spirit.

The family would like to thank the Belmont Village staff and the team at Sage Oak Residential Care Home for their compassionate and loving care in Bill’s final days. Also, a special thank you to the entire team at Legacy Home Health for their unwavering support and kindness.

Bill Hite’s legacy is one of faith, family, friendship, and service. He will be remembered as a fun, kind, and principled man whose strength touched the lives of all who knew him. His love and leadership will live on through his family and friends.
