William "Bill" Harper

William "Bill" Harper, 92, of Amarillo, passed away, Wednesday, August 18, 2021 in Amarillo.

Graveside services will be 11:30 AM Saturday, August 21, 2021 at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Pampa with Rev. Murray Gossett, associate pastor at First Presbyterian Church in Amarillo, officiating.

Memorial services will be 2:30 PM Saturday, August 21, 2021 at First Presbyterian Church in Amarillo, with Rev. Murray Gossett, associate pastor, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa.

Mr. Harper was born on August 27, 1929 in Goldthwaite to William and Mary Harper. Bill graduated from Anton High School and attended Wayland Baptist University. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1950 and was discharged in 1952. Bill would then join the New Mexico National Guard and the Army Reserve and be discharged in 1958. He married Carol Sloan on November 28, 1952 in Portales, New Mexico. Bill worked at the Credit Bureau of Alamogordo, New Mexico and as the credit manager in Caprock Credit in Amarillo for numerous years. He enjoyed working in his garden and spending time with his family. He was a 30-year member at First Presbyterian Church in Amarillo.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Naomi Stephens; and a son, David Harper.

Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Carol Harper of the home; a daughter-in-law, Donna Harper of Amarillo; two grandchildren, Douglas Harper of Amarillo and D'Ana Harper of Oregon; a great-grandson, Beau Harper of Lubbock; and a brother, Robert Harper of Corsicana.
