Mike Sells, 67, of Pampa passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2026 in Amarillo.

Cremation memorial graveside will be 11:00 AM Saturday, June 6, 2026 at Fairview Cemetery with Rev. Rick Parnell officiating. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

Mike was born November 28, 1958 in Pampa to Tommy and Jean Sells. He graduated from Pampa High School in 1977. After high school, he moved to Amarillo and attended TSTI to earn his associate degree in diesel mechanics. On February 18, 1978, he married Jolita Siebenlist. While in Amarillo, he worked at Cummins Sales and Service for a year before moving to back to Pampa in 1980.

Mike began working for Haliburton about 10 years before he was laid off due to the company relocation. He would work at several businesses in town until he was hired at Waukesha-Pearce Industries as their mechanic for compressors and generators. Mike worked over 12 years before he was worn out and needed a change of pace. He began working for Hanover for a short time until he was laid off. Mike decided to apply at TDCJ as a correctional officer and was hired and has been working in Pampa for the past 7 years. Due to his complication with brain cancer, he has been on medical leave. Mike was a hard worker and had a strong work ethic. He was able to teach his grandson-in-law, Austin, the importance of a good work ethic.

Mike was involved in the Pampa Soccer Association for many years. He kept the grass mowed and helped with the concession stand. He also was a referee for 15 years. Mike also enjoyed bowling and participated in the league bowling for many years. For a while he spent a lot of time riding and working on his Goldwing motorcycle. He loved to ride.

Mike was a talker and a storyteller. He had a story for just about anything and loved to share with people. Mike was also a jokester and joke teller, often he would submit jokes to the Eagle radio station in Amarillo. They named him “funniest man in Pampa”. Mike loved his family and will be missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Ryan David Sells; and a grandson, Churchman Howell.

Survivors include his wife, Jolita of the home; daughter, Lindy Howell and husband Jason of Canyon; two granddaughters, Jalyn Mans and husband Austin of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Lauren Dye and husband James of Cisco; grandson, Richmond Howell of Goodwill, Oklahoma; and two great grandchildren, Ryder Dye and J.D. Dye.

In lieu of flowers, memorial can be sent to the American Cancer Society.
